Indoor Cycle speed record under a hot autumn sun
Under surprisingly summery heat, extreme athlete Kurt Köhler (eisenkurt.eu) pedaled hard on his AsVIVA Speedbike yesterday, Sunday. At the Stuttgart charity event for the association "Helden für Tiere e.V." hosted by TV presenter Ralf Seeger ("Harte Hunde" seen on VOX), the indoor speed record on a Speedbike was set to fall for a good cause. With active water cooling and shade provided by parasols, the 66-year-old extreme athlete ran hot and only narrowly missed the targeted best mark of 58 kilometers in one hour. Despite "water showers," Köhler managed just under 56 kilometers on the Indoor Cycle after 60 minutes. "The first half hour was really hot," says Köhler, who was visibly surprised by the weather. "But the result shows me that there's still room for improvement." His outstanding performance, proving that anything is possible with fitness as you age, was acknowledged by Ralf Seeger and his guests with praise, recognition, and respect. For Kurt Köhler, this is just further motivation. "I would like to start my next record attempt before Christmas, probably in Munich," says Eisenkurt.
